Located on the very edge of Lake Natron, this camp is perfectly situated for amazing adventures! Located within walking distance are hominid footprints and Lake Natron, where over one million flamingos come to breed. The camp is also ideally situated as an ending point for the Empakai to Lake Natron Trek as well as a number of other activities and expeditions combined with Northern Tanzania safaris.
This camp is the only higher standard camp in the area and the location is unbelievable. The view of Oldonyo Lengai is impressive and there is a constant reminder of a land before time. The Lake Natron area is for those seeking off-the-beaten path and away from the typical tourist circuit. The hikes are a pleasant surprise into a hidden oasis of waterfalls in the dry harsh climate.
We generally use this camp for a connoisseur safari experience, when people want to do something very different. The Lake Natron area is not a place to see wildlife action but more a place to enjoy prehistoric landscapes and diverse activities. We like to take families here because of the activities on offer and authentic Maasai interaction. This camp is a great compliment to bigger Northern circuit safari programs.
