Serian was the first of Alex Walker’s camps, and perfectly captures the essence of its name meaning peaceful and serene in Maasai. It’s a retreat from the bustle of contemporary life in traditional tented splendor. It lies in the private Mara North Conservancy, and the beauty of this location is like having your own personal piece of Africa.
Serian is set above the Mara River with views of the Olooloo Escarpment. Its unique position flanking this escarpment, means there are no close neighbors and also allows for great hikes into the hills and superb lookouts. The camp is one of 11 properties that are in partnership with local Maasai communities creating a private and exclusive conservancy experience.
We like this charming camp a lot! It’s great to combine its sister camp in the actual Mara triangle for closer Migration action. Both camps complement each other for a well-rounded Mara experience. As a stand alone, this property is delightful and represents an authentic bush safari.
