New for 2017, we are launching a fabulous opportunity to experience authentic private mobile camping in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. If you are thinking about planning a safari in 2017, here are a few great reasons to consider adding this amazing new private mobile safari experience to your itinerary.

Location, Location, Location

This exclusive mobile tented camp places you in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Because this is a mobile camp, location will be determined by water levels in the delta as well as concentration and location of the wildlife. You’ll be perfectly situated to view Africa’s wildlife – minus the crowds.

Luxury in the Bush

Comprised of large tents with real beds, flush loos, down pillows, pure cotton sheets, Persian rugs, bone-handled silver cutlery, damask table linen, this is definitely “glamping.”. The only concessions to roughing it are the bucket showers, which are private and en-suite. Your bucket shower is filled with warm water every morning, evening or when requested.

Meals are all freshly-prepared and won’t leave you wanting more. Teas are indulgent affairs with treats like triple layer, banana caramel cake, tangy lemon curd biscuits and best brownies in the bush! All bread is baked daily, and delicious fully cooked English breakfasts are on offer every morning. Our safari chefs prepare delicious culinary 3-course meals – enjoyed under the African night sky.

Expert Guiding

The best guides are drawn to the most authentic, adventurous experiences, and this is certainly an experience they love!

Meet your guide upon arrival in camp and enjoy a slow meandering game drive to get to know one another and familiarize yourself with the area arriving at camp to enjoy sundowners and dinner.

Second day, at first light of day, head out into the bush with your guide for an introduction to some of the animals of the dry floodplain environment, looking for zebra, wildebeest, impala and predators such as wild dog and cheetah. Lunch at camp followed by a siesta, after tea head off for sundowners where you will park at the edge of a lagoon watching herds of elephants and a myriad of birds coming down to drink whilst the sun sets and given an informal talk on the geological history of the area.

Your guide will customize each day according to what you want to see and do. This is particularly important for families travelling with kids, as additional activities like bush walks can be incorporated as well to keep the whole family happy and entertained.

Water-based Safari Activities

Your third day you board a boat to explore the waters of the Delta. The deep open lagoon provides a wonderful contrast in habitat after the dry forest areas and floodplains of your first camp. Putt along the maze of channels, stopping to admire rare birds and the diversity of aquatic life. Spot small crocodiles basking in the sun and hippos jousting for territories.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the ecology of the waters and the components of the ecosystem. Enjoy a picnic lunch and cool off at a safe swimming spot.

For an extra dose of adventure, consider staying one night at a private, lantern-lit ‘fly camp’ on a remote island, deep in the delta! Here you sleep in a simple, mosquito net tent fitted with cotton sheets, feather bedding and hot water bottles and luxuriate in the freedom of a night in the open, surrounded by nature at her very best!
