After a long international flight, our travellers are always delighted to arrive at one of a few boutique properties in the Karen neighbourhood of Nairobi.
And now, neighbouring a giraffe sanctuary in this quiet suburb, the new One Forty Eight is a much-welcome addition and we couldn’t be more excited for its 2017 opening! Here’s why.
Intimate Property
The property is originally a private home, and the structure retains this intimate feel. The main house includes three bedrooms, all ensuite with a loft with 3 beds for children. The spacious master bedroom includes a huge dressing room. The main living area downstairs is huge with an open plan design and a lovely big veranda outside with fire place.
There are also five free-standing garden rooms located on the property.
Uniquely Kenyan
Everything about this property is uniquely Kenyan. From the beautiful garden and cozy main house to the stunning local artwork throughout the property, staying here is staying in the home of a friend. Warthogs and peacocks often wander through the garden, and lions can be heard calling at night from the nearby Nairobi National Park.
The massive fireplace in the center of the living space, a staple in Kenyan homes, is a perfect place to gather before dinner.
Ideal Location
Located in Langata, One Forty Eight is in a perfect location. You can visit the giraffe sanctuary and Daphne Sheldrick elephant orphanage, both located nearby. Some of our favourite local boutiques are in the area, and there are a number of delicious restaurants and cafes in the area as well.
