Deep within the northern Serengeti’s prime wildlife area, Mara Under Canvas offers perfect luxury from which to witness the Great Migration and to explore the more remote corners of Tanzania’s oldest and most famous National Park. Peaking between June and November, guests can observe an annual wildlife spectacle quite unlike any other, over a million wildebeest and ungulates in search of fresh grazing and water.
Mara Under Canvas is an area of lush, rolling grasslands, rocky outcrops and tree-lined watercourses. The vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, impala, and eland are followed by an array of predators including lion, cheetah, and hyena. The Mara River provides a large spectacle and some animals fall prey to hungry crocodiles.
This camp is a more mid ranged option set in an ideal location to catch the Great Migration during the months of July through October. The amenities here are clean, simple, and serviced by a friendly staff.
