Leora Rothschild is just back from New York where she accepted TWO Travel + Leisure 2013 World’s Best Awards, at a party hosted by Nancy Novogrod, Travel & Leisure’s Editor-in-chief, and Jay Meyer VP/Publisher.
New York…one of my favorite cities! Cape Town, South Africa, of course, is at the top of my list. But back to the Big Apple. I was there last week for the Travel + Leisure 2013 World’s Best Awards ceremony and private dinner, and was I in for a few surprises!
First, announcing the awards was the actor Chris Noth (known for his role as “Big” in Sex and the City). And secondly, not only did he announce our award for Top Safari Outfitter, but we also received Top Family Adventure Outfitter!
We are so honored to have received both of these awards and thrilled that we achieved the number one ranking among all safari outfitters on our very first time on the Travel + Leisure World’s Best list. I was in such amazing company at the awards ceremony. Among the likes of Mombo Camp in Botswana (one of our absolute favorite camps for its luxury combined with the best game viewing in all of Africa) and the Cape Grace in Cape Town (that I revisited on my recent family safari and was, as always, blown away by the accommodations, service, spa…everything)! Apart from our regulars that we know all too well from our frequent travels through Africa, it was quite an honor to be able to rub shoulders with the best of the best in the world, from Hawaii to Asia!
