It is one of our particular specialties and our experience with raising children in Africa and traveling with them means that we really do not rely on talking the talk.

AUSTRALIA

Southern Ocean Lodge – Kangaroo Island Australia

Claiming to be the first true luxury lodge in Australia, the Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island floats at the top of a secluded cliff along a rugged coastline. Twenty-one suites have been built to bridge the divide between breathtaking wilderness and incredible grandeur. Families can explore the ‘zoo without fences’ to their heart’s content, often with exclusive access and never without a touch of luxe.


KENYA

Cottar’s 1920s Private House, Masai Mara

Welcome to the original spirit and essence of Safari. A camp located within a 22,000-acre exclusive concession in the Masai Mara it borders on both the Serengeti and Loliondo Reserves. Guests are invited to make themselves at home amidst all the historic artifacts while staying in one of five ensuite bedrooms and incredible views. There is also a private pool, private guide, and private Safari vehicle.

Lewa House, Isiola

Every day, the Go-Away birds turn up promptly at 4 pm in the hope of joining in high tea at Lewa House. There is a comforting cadence to every day with drinks before dinner around a large fireplace and impressive views of the adjacent waterhole from the elegant verandah overlooking the waterhole and this provides some of the best game viewing on Lewa. The bygone era is perfectly complemented by a very modern approach to staying connected through WiFi. It is a carefully considered location for traveling with children.

Ol Malo, Laikipia

This privately owned family ranch and game sanctuary have a building style that has evolved over generations. Perfectly mixing home comfort and luxury with a feeling of being at one with nature. When the sun goes down the excitement does not end either and visitors can opt to spend a night in the leopard hide, stargazing from the tree house or stay overnight in a tented fly camp. Ol Malo has a large sitting and dining room with open fireplace surrounded by three en-suite double rooms with oversized hot tubs and a further three cottages with double bedrooms.


MOZAMBIQUE

Villa Santorini Mozambique

Only a few miles from Vilanculos, this stylish sea facing villa is the perfect family retreat. Five en-suite bathrooms and private balconies are dotted around an elegant split-level interior. An in-house chef prepares the meals and the villa is run by a management couple as a boutique hotel. Children of all ages are welcome.


SOUTH AFRICA

Cheetah Plains,

Exclusive-use, contemporary bushveld houses all feature a central home surrounded by private guest suites. In every house, there are two lounges, dining areas, outdoor boma, wine cellars & heated swimming pool as well as a private game viewing vehicle & designated field guide for the duration of your stay. All meals are prepared by a private chef and paired with carefully chosen wines. It is a private, curated Safari experience.

Londolozi Varty House, Londolozi

The original heart of Londolozi is a tapestry of brick paths, dolerite rock walls, waterfalls, and vines. Simple spaces and unencumbered river views reflect the owner’s 90-year love with this land and a strong emphasis on family and heritage. Every room has a private swimming pool, outdoor shower and outdoor dining sala framed by raised timber decks. Children older than 6 are welcome.

Madikwe Lelapa, Madikwe

Children of all ages are welcome at Lelapa (the word literally means family). Expect warm hospitality and every comfort in the 12 spacious Suites. Indoor and outdoor showers, private plunge pool and wood-burning fireplace are all designed to enhance the welcome of Mother Nature.

Morukuru Houses, Madikwe

The Owner’s House and the River House are within strolling distance of each other along the banks of the Marico River. En-suite bedrooms and every comfort with bush views from everywhere (even the tub).  The River House accommodates four children comfortably with access to comprehensive recreational facilities. The Owner’s House has two en-suite bedrooms. A full complement of staff includes a chef, butler, hostess, housekeeper, private guide tracker, and nanny if required.

Tintswalo Manor House in Manyeleti Game Reserve

Ideal for families the unique design accommodates between six and ten guests in four-star holiday heaven along the banks of the seasonal Nwaswitsontso River. The splendid setting provides supreme comfort, privacy, and an opportunity for effortless birding, as well as the chance to view a large variety of big game that frequents the watering hole in front of Manor House. The Manor House staff is on call to meet your needs, and a safari vehicle, guide, and tracker are allocated exclusively to you for the duration of your stay.


TANZANIA

Chem Chem Forest Lodge, between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara

‘Kuungana’ means ‘to connect’ in Swahili and this is the essence of Forest Chem Chem. Within 16,000 ha of exclusive wilderness areas adjoining the Tarangire National Park, Chem Chem set out to provide a sacred space for families to create special memories, to explore and connect. It provides the environment for families to spend life enriching time together. The Family tent has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and can accommodate two adults and two children (6-16 years old).

The Highlands, Ngorongoro Crater

It is still possible to visit one of the most popular places on earth in privacy. Redefining the Safari experience, The Highlands is set on the edge of the forest that hugs the Olmoto Volcano to the north of Ngorongoro Crater. It is a contemporary escape and a visit to the wildest of wildernesses all at once. Surrounded by leopard buffalo and elephant excursions follow ancient Maasai trails and allow easy access to the famous Ngorongoro Crater itself.

Mkombe House, Serengeti

A bush home from home that was designed specifically with little children in mind, the only self-contained private house in the Serengeti is an incredible place to spend time together. Named after a guide who cherished the area and connected strongly with children it is set amidst one of the richest game areas in the Serengeti.


ZAMBIA

Chundukwa River Lodge, Zambezi River

Inspired by Zambia, Chundukwa lies on the banks of the Zambezi River and offers a personal experience away from the hustle of Livingstone. Experience Victoria Falls and all the incredible adventure activities for all the family during the day and return to your private haven only 25 km from Livingstone.


ZIMBABWE

Ruckomechi, Mana Pools

From the banks of the Zambezi, it is possible to access a private concession on the western boundary of Mana Pools National Park. Only ten large en-suite tents with central dining, bar, library and lounge and incredible views everywhere you go along the low-level walkways.  Your family will be surrounded by large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo, eland… and the stars are pretty spectacular overhead at night. This camp is also very environmentally conscious.

Somalisa Acacia, Hwange National Park

With only four rooms and an invitation to all ages, this family-friendly camp was named after the vivid African Acacia tree. Designed to allow families to form meaningful and authentic memories. The splash pool borders wild elephant waterholes and activities include guided walks with child specialist guides.
