“We really did have an amazing time – very different from our first trip to Africa last November,” wrote Gayle. Read about her recent trip to see the Great Migration and to trek for gorillas.

What was your most memorable experience?

Our private Cessna flight around Mt. Kilimanjaro to watch the sun rise at Chyulu Hills, Our hot air balloon ride over the Mara, and gorilla trekking in Rwanda.

What was the biggest surprise?

My birthday dinner in the cave in Chyulu Hills

What advice you would give to other travelers?

Don’t hesitate to experience as much as you can – vary your activities – go on walking safaris when possible

How was Rothschild Safaris’ service in preparing you for your trip?

Melanie & Jessica did a great job in putting together our trip. We traveled through 3 countries and everything went smoothly thanks to their hard work. Jessica even managed to get back my husband’s I-Pad after he left it at one of the local airports. We never thought we would see it again, but somehow Jessica managed a miracle to get it back to us at the end of our trip!

How would you rate your guides?

All of our guides were excellent – I especially enjoyed our Maasai guides while at Campi ya Kanzi (Pachet) & Serian Mara(Frances). Pachet took us to his home and introduced us to his family – a real treat. Frances took us on a few walking safaris which were very informative. At Giraffe Manor our guide Mike took us to the Elephant Orphanage which was another highlight as we got to visit with our 2 adopted elephants. Edward K – our guide at Singita – had amazing tracking skills and provided us with some great game drives. Ahmon – our guide while at Sabyinyo Lodge – was invaluable. He managed to secure the best treks for us – and he showed us around Kigali and drove us to Virunga Hills – what beautiful views!

Who would you recommend this trip to?

Anyone who enjoys the outdoors and would appreciate experiencing nature first hand as well as the African culture.
