Day 1 – Your Morocco Safari
Board your flight tonight for Africa!
Oualidia – Arrival
Welcome to Morocco! On arrival, you’ll be transferred to the coastal town of Oualidia and your hotel for the night La Sultana. Rest up for the start of your Morocco safari.
Oualidia – Oyster Beds & Picnic Lunch
After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel pier for a surf lesson. Conditions here are ideal for beginners and the instructors are world class. After a picnic lunch on a secluded beach, enjoy a fun afternoon on a fishing boat and visit the local oyster beds. Dinner and overnight at the La Sultana Oualidia.
Essaouira and Medina
After breakfast, drive to Essaouria, famous for its Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend the later afternoon strolling exploring the narrow streets, souqs, street vendors, leafy plazas and whitewashed houses with ornate wooden doors. Arrive at the L’Heure Bleue and spend the afternoon relaxing in the beautiful Hammam and rooftop swimming pool and terrace. Dinner and overnight at the L’Heure Bleue.
Asni and Berber Villas
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive up into the high Atlas Mountains making a few stops along the way before arriving at the village of Asni. Located in the Toubkal National Park, one of the most stunning areas of the Atlas Mountain range. Dinner and overnight at Kasbah Tamadot.
Morocco Safari Tamadot and the Atlas Mountains
After breakfast, set out with your guide for the village of Imsker. From here take an off-road track to one of the highest villages in Morocco and enjoy an excellent traditional Berber lunch, while enjoying stunning views down the mountain. After lunch, enjoy a guided hike before heading back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, set out on the drive to Marrakesh enjoying spectacular scenery of the Kik Plateau, Moulay Brahim, past Takerkoust Reservoir and bring you into Marrakesh. Arrive at the Villa des Orangers for your overnight. A former palace, located in the centre of Marrakesh, just a 5-minute walk from Jemaa el Fna Square. Spend the rest of the day exploring Marrakesh or the gardens & swimming pool of the hotel.
Marrakesh Historical Tour
After breakfast, meet with a private guide for a full day exploring Marrakesh. Start the morning viewing the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque, before heading to the Kasbah, with is food market, bakeries and narrow alleyways. The afternoon involves guided walks though the artisan quarters and the colorful Souks to interact with the real life of Marrakesh people. End the afternoon in the main square Jemaa El Fna, where hundreds of locals and tourists come to spend the end of the day watching jugglers, dancers, fortune tellers and traditional musicians.
Marrakesh Gardens Tour
After breakfast, enjoy a morning tour of the gardens and museums of Marrakesh. Explore beautiful collections of Berber and sub Saharan artefacts, visit a museum displaying Yves Saint Laurent’s personal collection of Berber antiques and an Art Deco villa with the famous garden created by the orientalist Jacques Majorelle. Return to the hotel and the rest of the day will be at leisure.
Marrakesh to Skoura
After breakfast, follow an old tribal pass over the Atlas Mountains where we stop and visit Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, often used today by enchanted filmmakers. From mountains to sand dunes the journey to Dar Ahlam is unique and picturesque. Overnight at Dar Ahla.
Skoura Medina Tour
This morning, visit Skoura’s famed mudbrick kasbahs and vast palmeraie, a UNESCO World Heritage site, for a gentle walk with your guide. Under this green canopy, a 15-mile patchwork of carefully tended garden plots are watered by an ingenious, centuries-old khettara system of locks, levers and canals. Return to Dar Ahlam for dinner and overnight.
Skoura to Erfoud
After breakfast, drive to the Draa valley, travelling across stone deserts and landscapes resembling the Moon. Arriving at the Palais Masandoïa hotel in time for lunch, simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the desert or spend time at the spa and hammam.
Desert drive and Camel transfer to Gold Sand Camp
Wake early and set out in a 4×4 vehicle into the desert. Enjoy breakfast Picnic in a remote location. Experience an existence beyond time, and be amazed by the immensity of the desert while driving through scattered villages. As you approach the town of Merzouga you will be met with camels for your transfer to camp.
Merzouga to Fez
After breakfast, drive to the cultural city of Fez. Stop for pictures along the magnificent gorges of the Ziz Valley and pass rows of palm trees and mud made fortified villages. Cross through the Atlas Mountains before arriving at the Palais Faraj for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided walk through Morocco’s oldest royal city. Founded in 808, the Fez Medina, the biggest pedestrian city in the world, has just celebrated its twelve centuries of existence. After lunch, visit the royal palace built as a summer residence for King Hassan. From here continue to Fez El Jedid (new Fez) and the largest Jewish quarter in Morocco established in the late 15th century. Enjoy time to explore before returning to the hotel for overnight.
Fez – Volubilis – Meknes – Casablanca
After breakfast, discover the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, the ancient capital of Mauretania Tingitane during the reign of Juba II. Your Morocco safari guide will show you the Basilica, the Temple and the Arch of Triumph. From here we drive to Meknes, the 17th century capital of Morocco. You will get a comprehensive tour of the city’s highlights and the Bab El Mansour Gate, overlooking El Hedim Square and its colorful food market. Arrive at the Four Seasons Casablanca for dinner and overnight.
Morocco Safari – Travel Home
You will be transferred to the airport for your international flight home, and your incredible Morocco safari will come to a close.
