The Great Migration Safari starts as you approach Nairobi Airport right next to Nairobi National Park. Giraffe Manor and the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Rescue Center is a great introduction to conservation in Africa before you are off to the Lewa Conservancy and the wild of Kenya. The Great Migration Safari includes the opportunity to explore Africa by horseback, fish for trout, enjoy walking safaris, hot air ballooning and day and night game drives. Explore the wildlife and culture of the Masai Mara and the Serengeti before concluding your safari with a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater a natural phenomenon.

Itinerary at a Glance
Welcome to Kenya and the Great Migration Safari. Keep your eyes open for your first wildlife sightings as you land in Nairobi. You will fly directly over Nairobi National Park, immediately adjacent to the airport. After you clear customs, you’ll be transferred to the lush, green Nairobi suburb of Karen and the iconic Giraffe Manor. Settle in and enjoy a delicious dinner before drifting to sleep.
Breakfast with the Rothschild Giraffe and Elephant Orphanage
This morning, you’ll enjoy breakfast alongside Giraffe Manor’s resident Rothschild giraffe. After breakfast, take a walk through the well-manicured grounds of the hotel to the Giraffe Center where you can continue learning about Giraffe and the conservation efforts underway in Africa to protect these beautiful creatures. This afternoon, head to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Rescue Center where you can interact with baby orphaned elephants and watch as their caretakers put them to bed for the evening. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Flight to Lewa Conservancy, High Tea and Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast, your migration safari continues as you are transferred about 30 minutes to the domestic airport where you will hop on a quick flight in a bush plane to the Lewa Conservancy and Sirikoi. Enjoy a lovely lunch, usually served al fresco, with ingredients fresh from the organic garden on site. After lunch, head out on your first game drive in Kenya. Here you are surrounded by rich game viewing opportunities and you’ll have a very good chance of seeing all of the Big 5, including the endangered black and white rhinos while on safari. Return to camp for dinner and a cozy night.
Lewa Conservancy – Mt. Kenya Scenic Flight and Afternoon Horseback Safari
Rise early this morning to board a helicopter that will take you over the peaks and majestic wilderness of Mt. Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa. Along the way, stop for a picnic breakfast on the shores of a remote alpine lake with extraordinary mountain scenery, with a chance to fish for rainbow trout if you choose. Return to camp for lunch. This afternoon head out on horseback through the bush for an unparalleled opportunity to get close to wildlife, combined with the stunning scenery and varied terrain. Stop for sundowners and as the sun sets you will head back to camp for dinner and drinks around the open fireplace.
Flight to Masai Mara Game Reserve, High Tea and Afternoon Game Drive
Today you head to the most iconic wildlife destination on the planet; the Masai Mara. After breakfast, fly from Lewa to the Masai Mara. You’ll be picked up at the airstrip by a camp guide and the game drive begins immediately. Arrive at Rekero Camp, located on the banks of the Talek River in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve, in time for high tea. After tea, continue exploring the conservancy with your guide, returning to camp for dinner and overnight.
Masai Mara Game Reserve, Walking Safari and Night Drive
Wake up early to experience the vast number of wildlife species in the area. Head out on a game drive, returning to camp for a full hot breakfast. This afternoon explore the area around camp on foot with an armed guide. This is a thrilling way to experience the African bush more intimately. After dinner you will head out on your night drive, this is a fabulous way to learn about Africa’s nocturnal game and see the migration from the starlight.
Masai Mara Game Reserve, Game Drive & Hot Air Balloon Ride
A hot air balloon ride truly is an extraordinary way to experience the plains and the wildebeest migration. After silently gliding over Africa’s big game for an hour, enjoy a champagne breakfast in the bush. Spend the afternoon relaxing, reading and resting in camp before heading out on an afternoon game drive. Return to camp for a late dinner and overnight with the opportunity to head out on another night drive if you wish.
Serengeti Cultural Experience and Lamai
After breakfast, you will be transferred across the border into the Serengeti, Tanzania. Enjoy a game drive en-route from the airstrip to Lamai Lodge, viewing the migration herds along the way. Arrive in time for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing in your room or taking a dip in the natural rock pool with dramatic views across the valley. After high tea, enjoy a personal and moving cultural experience. Join your local guide as he takes you through his home, introduces you to his family and friends and teaches you about their traditions and practices. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Serengeti Full Day Game Drive
Today, head out with a guide and packed picnic lunch for a full day exploring the Serengeti plains. Move as quickly or as leisurely as you would like in your private safari vehicle and enjoy this day on the great migration safari at your own pace. This is a fabulous opportunity to see the great wildebeest and zebra migration, large herds of plains game and the highest concentration of predators in Africa. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Early Morning bush walk in Serengeti, Afternoon Game Drive
This morning, rise early and set out on foot as the sun begins to rise. This is the time of day when the wildlife is most active. This is a great opportunity to learn about the fauna and flora in the bush. Return to camp for a full breakfast. Time for a siesta, relax in the shade, or enjoy a good book. After lunch and high tea, set out for one final game drive in the Serengeti, stopping to watch the sun set with cocktails and appetizers. Return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
Ngorongoro Highlands and Organic Farm Tour
This morning, travel by game drive through the Serengeti to the lush Ngorongoro highlands. Arrive at Gibbs Farm in the late afternoon, and after settling in enjoy a walk through the onsite organic farm. Experience a local working organic farm including over 10 acres of fruit and vegetable gardens and 30 acres of coffee. Try your hand at milking a cow while the staff answer questions about their sustainable farming methods. Enjoy a lovely dinner fresh from the garden this evening!
Ngorongoro Crater Full Day Game Drive
Set out early for the nearby Ngorongoro Crater, either by drive or for the more adventurous on foot (which is a 6-7 hour round trip hike). The crater is a huge volcanic caldera formed about 2.5 million years ago when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself. Here you can view the Big Five in high concentration with a stunning backdrop of the crater walls. Return to Gibbs Farm for dinner and overnight.
