Itinerary at a Glance
Day 1 – The Great Migration Safari
Nairobi, Kenya – Arrival
Welcome to Kenya and the Great Migration Safari! Keep your eyes open for your first wildlife sightings as you land in Nairobi, as you will fly directly over Nairobi National Park, immediately adjacent to the airport. After you clear customs, you’ll be transferred to the lush, green Nairobi suburb of Karen and the iconic Giraffe Manor. Settle in and enjoy a delicious dinner before drifting to sleep.
Breakfast with the Rothschild Giraffe and Elephant Orphanage
This morning, you’ll enjoy breakfast alongside Giraffe Manor’s resident Rothschild giraffe. After breakfast, take a walk through the well-manicured grounds of the hotel to the Giraffe Center where you can continue learning about Giraffe and conservation efforts underway in Africa to protect these beautiful creatures. This afternoon, head to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Rescue Center where you can interact with baby orphaned elephants and watch as their caretakers put them to bed for the evening. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Flight to Lewa Conservancy, High Tea and Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast, your migration safari continues as you are transferred about 30 minutes to the domestic airport where you will hop on a quick flight in a bush plan to the Lewa Conservancy and Sirikoi. Enjoy a lovely lunch, usually served al fresco, with ingredients fresh from the organic garden on site. After lunch, head out on your first game drive in Kenya! Here you are surrounded by rich game viewing opportunities and you’ll have a very good chance of seeing all of the “Big Five”, including the endangered black and white rhinos while on safari. Return to camp for dinner and a cozy night.
Lewa Conservancy – Mt. Kenya Scenic Flight and Afternoon Horseback Safari
Rise early this morning to board a helicopter that will take you over the peaks and majestic wilderness of Mt. Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa. Along the way, stop for a picnic breakfast on the shores of a remote alpine lake with extraordinary montane scenery, with a chance to fish for rainbow trout if you choose! Return to camp for lunch. This afternoon head out on horseback through the bush for an unparalleled opportunity to get close to wildlife, combined with the stunning scenery and varied terrain. Stop for sundowners and as the sun sets you will head back to camp for dinner and drinks around the open fireplace.
Flight to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, High Tea and Afternoon Game Drive
Today you head to the most iconic wildlife destination on the planet; the Maasai Mara. After breakfast, fly from Lewa to the Maasai Mara. You’ll be picked up at the airstrip by a camp guide and the game drive begins immediately. Arrive at Naboisho Camp, located in the private Mara Naboisho Conservancy, in time for high tea. After tea, continue exploring the conservancy with your guide, returning to camp for dinner and overnight.
Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Walking Safari and Night Drive
Wake up early to experience the vast number of wildlife species in the area. Head out on a game drive, returning to camp for a full hot breakfast. This afternoon, explore the area around camp on foot with an armed guide. This is a thrilling way to more intimately experience the African bush. After dinner you will head out on your night drive, this is a fabulous way to learn about and view Africa’s nocturnal game and see the migration safari from the starlight.
Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Game Drive & Hot Air Balloon Ride
This morning, wake early for a truly once in a lifetime experience; hot air balloon ride over the plains and the wildebeest migration. After silently gliding over Africa’s big game for an hour, enjoy a champagne breakfast in the bush. Spend the afternoon relaxing, reading and resting in camp before heading out on an afternoon game drive. Return to camp for a late dinner and overnight with the opportunity to head out on another night drive if you wish!
Serengeti Cultural Experience and Sayari Camp
After breakfast, a short flight takes you across the border into the Serengeti, Tanzania. Game drive en-route from the airstrip to your camp viewing the migration herds along the way. Arrive in time for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing in your suite or taking a dip in the glorious rim-flow swimming pool with dramatic views over the northern plains. After high tea, enjoy a personal and moving cultural experience. Join your local guide as he takes you through his home, introduces you to his family and friends, and teaches you about their traditions and practices. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Serengeti, Full Day Game Drive
Today, head out with a guide and packed picnic lunch for a full day exploring the Serengeti plains. Move as quickly or as leisurely as you would like in your private safari vehicle and enjoy this day on the great migration safari at your own pace. This is a fabulous opportunity to see the great wildebeest and zebra migration, large herds of plains game and the highest concentrate of predators in Africa! Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Flight to Grumeti Reserve – Singita Wine Tasting, Spa Treatment or Game Drive
After breakfast, your bush flight takes you into western Serengeti and Singita Faru Faru.
Arrive in time for a lovely lunch, featuring a wine tasting in the lodge’s temperature-controlled cellar. An experienced sommelier will guide you through a variety of wine styles, years and cultivars to find the wines most suited to your individual taste. Spend the afternoon relaxing in the spa or you may wish to head out on a game drive before dinner.
Full Day Game Drive and Singita Faru Faru
Today, head out with your guide and packed picnic lunch for a full day exploring the Serengeti plains on the private Singita conservancy. With such close proximity to the river and plains enjoy the unique opportunity to experience a very close connection with the wilderness. Back at the camp enjoy dinner.
You have now been on the famous Great Migration Safari. Now fly back to Arusha and connect to your international flight home.
