Day 1 – Your Zimbabwe Safari
Victoria Falls and Zambezi River Cruise
Welcome to Africa! Upon arrival you will be transferred to Batonka Lodge for your starting point on Zimbabwe safari. This evening, sit back, relax and take in the surrounding views of the great Zambezi River aboard a small boat. From this unique vantage point, view birdlife and wildlife up-close on the islands along the river.
Scenic Flight over Victoria Falls and Tour
Today, explore the largest sheet of falling water in the world! Board a helicopter for a scenic flight one the falls. Viewing the spectacular Victoria Falls from the air is one of the most breath-taking and exhilarating activities in Africa! Afterwards, enjoy a private guided tour of the mighty ‘Smoke That Thunders.’ Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Zimbabwe Safari – Hwange National Park Game Drive
After breakfast, transfer to Hwange National Park, the largest park in Zimbabwe. Thanks to the sheer size of the park, there is a wide variety of vegetation and game to experience here, ranging from the semi desert scrub on the edge of the Kalahari in the south, to forests, granite hills and valleys of mopane woodlands in the north. Arrive at Somalisa Camp in time for lunch, served outside camp with views of a small water hole, frequented by large herds of big game including buffalo, elephant, kudu, zebra, giraffe and lion. Enjoy an afternoon game drive near camp.
Hwange Game Walk
This morning, set out on foot with an armed guide, passionate and eager to share his knowledge and love of the bush with you. Expect to see elephant, kudu, sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, and even lion, leopard, and hyena from a distance. Return to camp for a late lunch and relaxing afternoon before heading back into the bush for a dinner under the stars.
Full Day Game Drive on Zimbabwe Safari
After a light breakfast, set out on a full day game drive in the park. This is an excellent opportunity to truly appreciate the size and diversity of this area. Stop for a picnic lunch under the shade of a tree before making your way back to camp in time for dinner.
This morning, transfer to Zambezi Lifestyles Camp, located on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River in Mana Pools.
After breakfast, set out for a fishing expedition! The mighty Zambezi River has become the number one destination for avid fresh water anglers to “take on” the ferocious tiger fish (Hydrocynus Vittatus). An expert guide will take you to the best spot where you can try your luck! Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Zimbabwe Walking Safari
Mana Pools are known for amazing walking safaris, and today you’ll experience one for yourself! Enjoy the relatively relaxed wildlife that congregates near water, and get close to elephant, lion and wild dog if you’re lucky. This is a great opportunity to learn more about these species, understand their tracks and movements in a much more intimate way than from a vehicle.
For this step on your Zimbabwe safari, transfer to Lake Kariba and Bumi Hills. Perched on top of a range of remote hills on the shores of Lake Kariba, Bumi Hills is afforded breathtaking panoramic views over the endless blue waters of the lake. Ten beautifully appointed premium suites surround the iconic infinity pool which gazes out over paradise beyond. Decking extends from the ridge below- the perfect spot for dinner under the infinite, star-filled sky.
Spend the day cruising the lake in a private 30 foot catamaran, taking in the gorgeous vistas and incredible shows of light. Try your hand a catching a tiger fish-pound for pound they are the world’s most ferocious fighting fish.
Spend your final day in Africa on an extended game drive, exploring the reserve with a local guide. Stop for lunch along the way before returning to camp for a swim in the infinity pool and dinner under the stars.
Enjoy breakfast (and possibly a last game drive) before you transfer to the airstrip for your shared charter flight to Harare, where you will connect with your flight to Johannesburg and then on to your flight home and conclude your magical Zimbabwe safari.
