Greystoke Mahale is a remote paradise on Tanzania’s western frontier- so remote that the only way to reach it is by boat!

Enjoy waterfalls, birds, butterflies, and nature hikes. Take a dip in an ice cold mountain pool, or kayak to the middle of the lake.  By all means, enjoy sundowners in an old wooden dhow. But the true highlight of this camp is the chimps. A group of them had been habituated by a Japanese research project years ago, and seeing them inspires awe. Sometimes there is quite a trek to get to the chimps, but once you do you can sit on the forest floor and become transfixed by the daily life of the chimps.
