What do all of our African Safaris have in common?

The way that conservation filters through nearly every experience and all destinations.

Your guides educate you about local conservation efforts, you’ll see how the local communities live side-by-side with Africa’s big game, and a portion of the cost of every safari directly supports management of wildlife conservation areas.

But if you are looking for a more hands-on, in-depth conservation experience, check out our latest Zambia Safari itinerary:

Northern Kafue National Park

Begin the conservation safari with four nights in the remote and wild northern stretch of Kafue National Park. Here, the Busanga Plains are famous for various lion pride territories, offering some of the best lion viewing in Africa.

The area is also perfectly situated to see large numbers of plains game such as puku, red lechwe, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, oribi, buffalo, wildebeest, and even the rare roan antelope.

You will work hand in hand with the Zambian Carnivore Programme, a unique opportunity to understand the role of conservation initiatives in protecting the lion, leopard, and cheetah of the area. Spend a full day with Game Rangers International, including a presentation of their anti-poaching work the evening before.

You’ll also have time to enjoy a walking safari, for which Zambia is rightly known. This is a remarkable way to enjoy the small wonders of the Park and to view the general game and a variety of bird species. Walking safaris are always done with a Department of National Parks And Wildlife Scout (DNPW) Scout.

Victoria Falls and the Mighty Zambezi River

Next, spend two nights on the banks of the Zambezi River. This area has seen great success in rhino conservation efforts. Spend an evening with leading rhino conservationists, learning how the species has been successfully protected in the area. The following morning, track and view Zambia’s protected rhinos on foot with the conservationists.

Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the nearby Sinde Village and Twabuka School. Meet these children and learn about their curriculum, which includes extensive education in local wildlife and conservation. Afterwards, see the fantastic results of this conservation education by witnessing the local community support and understanding.
