Itinerary at a Glance
Welcome to Africa! Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the charming Cape Cadogan hotel in the heart of Cape Town. The Cape Cadogan is a stately double-storeyed Georgian and Victorian building that dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. It was originally a single story Georgian farmhouse which was ‘Victorianised’ in the later part of the century. After settling in, walk towards Kloof Street and enjoy dinner at one of the many fantastic local restaurants.
Cape Town Cableway, V&A Waterfront and Robbin Island
After breakfast, set out with your guide for a full day exploration of Cape Town. First, head to the Cableway, a fun way to reach the top of Table Mountain, taking in the dramatic views of the city and ocean below. Continue on towards the Victoria & Alfred waterfront, stopping for lunch at the Greenmarket Square. Hop on a boat to visit Robbin Island before heading back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, drive into the rolling hills of the Cape Winelands and enjoy a scenic ride on horseback through the mountains, taking time to appreciate the views. After lunch, hop on a bicycle to explore the charming village area before a series of afternoon wine tastings before returning to Cape Town.
Cape Town Beaches
Today, explore some of Cape Town’s most epic beaches, including Boulders Beach, Camp’s Bay, and Clifton Beach. Finally, head to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. Extending south from Cape Town is the Cape of Good Hope, the peninsula that divides the Atlantic Ocean and False Bay. Cape Point, a jagged, narrow strip of land that juts out into the Atlantic and acts as the continent’s southwestern-most point. Standing here will leave you feeling like you’ve reached the edge of the world.
Sabi Sand Game Reserve Game Drive
Today your wildlife safari begins! Fly to the famed Kruger National Park, an ecosystem which is home to the largest concentration of wild animal species in the Southern Hemisphere, arriving at Lion Sands River Lodge in time for lunch. This afternoon enjoy a game drive, getting up close to countless animal species (including predators, general game, reptiles, insects, and birds-a-plenty). Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Walking Safari in Sabi Sand Game Reserve
This morning, set out on foot with an armed guide. Walking Safaris are the perfect way to forge a one-on-one connection with Africa. You’ll learn how to track game but looking at tracks and other clues and discover some of the smaller elements of the African bush that are easy to miss from a safari vehicle. This afternoon, enjoy a game drive and sundowner cocktails while the sun sets.
Sleep out in Chalkey Treehouse
After a day full of game viewing, head to the Chalkey Treehouse. Arrive at sunset to a scrumptious picnic dinner, and spend the hours of dusk fully appreciating the vastness of the bushveld as it transforms from day to night. Slumber directly beneath the Milky Way where you may well lose count of the shooting stars. All of the Treehouses are securely constructed above the ground, where animals will remain at a safe and comfortable distance.
Day of Wellness in the Bush
After morning coffee, transfer back to camp for a full hot breakfast. This morning, enjoy a private yoga class in the bush before visiting the on site spa. Tonight, enjoy an evening game drive and gourmet bush dinner under the African stars.
Phinda Private Game Reserve and Zululand
This morning, transfer to Phinda Forest Lodge located in KwaZulu-Natal. En route, stop at the KwaZulu Cultural and Historical Museum, home to excellent exhibits on Zulu history and culture and one of the country’s best collections of beadwork. Arrive at Phinda Forest Lodge in time for a relaxing afternoon by the sparkling rim-flow swimming pool looking out onto panoramic views of an open meadow teeming with game. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive and sundowners before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.
Leopard Experience and Game Drives
This morning enjoy an immersive and unique leopard experience. As a direct result of the most extensive leopard research ever conducted in the world, the leopard population at Phinda Private Game Reserve is now stable at 30 resident adults. Join one of the researchers for a game drive, an amazing opportunity to learn more about these elusive creatures. Return to the lodge for a relaxing afternoon by the pool before an evening game drive and gourmet dinner in the boma under the African stars.
Elephant Collaring Experience
This morning, set out for another special wildlife experience; the collaring of elephant. Today you will witness the capture and darting of an elephant, and assist in the changing of the sleeping pachyderm’s radio collar. To date, seven elephant herds on the reserve have been collared to assist with monitoring and tracking their movements. The collars also play an essential part in the reserve’s immunocontraceptive program, aimed at managing the elephant population in the reserve to maintain optimum levels. Return to camp for a restful afternoon before setting out on you final game drive on this African safari.
After breakfast, transfer back to the Johannesburg airport for your international flight home.
