At a mile wide and 360 feet high, Victoria Falls (in the local language Mosi-oa-Tunya “smoke that thunders”) is the largest sheet of falling water in the world. It is set in the heart of southern Africa on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe and is protected on both sides by national parks. At the height of the rainy season in February, 546 million cubic meters of water plummet over it each minute! The Falls are accessed through Livingstone, Zambia or Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Whichever way you come, make sure to see the Falls from both sides, since each offers different and spectacular perspectives.
