About the Selinda Reserve
There are few places on this northern Botswana safari as dynamic as the Selinda Reserve, which is centered on the famous Selinda Spillway, which weaves its way east, linking the far reaches of the Okavango Delta in the south with the Linyanti water systems in the east. The Selinda Reserve is west (upstream) from Savute Channel and Chobe, so it has all the advantages of both of those famous areas but with the tremendous advantage of exclusivity. DAY 2 SELINDA RESERVE

Today your Botswana safari adventure begins! After breakfast, you will transfer with your guide to the starting point of the actual canoe trail. Once the guide has briefed you, the trail starts with a short late afternoon canoe experience before arriving at the evening’s first camp.

As there is a minimal distance to be covered on the first day of your Botswana safari, you will paddle until ready to stop, just before sunset, at a suitable site on the banks of the Spillway.

The dome-tented camp is erected and we enjoy a well-deserved sundowner around the campfire before dinner, followed by a good night’s sleep.

A safari to Jack’s Camp is also a complete desert experience focusing on species unique to the area such as aardvark, gemsbok and springbuck. Makgadikgadi & Nxai Pans form an enormous flat landscape of salt pans and grasslands which forms part of the Kalahari Desert. May to November the area is dry and largely devoid of game but December to April the desert springs to life as rain showers bring fresh grass and huge herds of grazers and the predators that hunt them.

This Adventure Camping Kenya Safari includes road transfers from Nairobi and a one way flight from Nairobi Wilson to the Masai Mara.  All game drives are in 4×4 vehicle from the camp. Spend 3 nights in the Selenkay Conservancy followed by 3 nights in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy.  Selenkay Conservancy is in the Amboseli eco-system and Ol Kinyei Conservancy is a very exclusive wildlife reserve in the Mara eco-system, teeming with animals including over 30 lions and 8 leopards.

This camping kenya safari has been designed to offer the same high quality wildlife safari experience provided by the top-end kenya safari camps, with 4×4 game viewing escorted by top class guides and in exclusive wildlife conservancies away from the tourist minibuses, but at a hugely reduced price by staying in small basic adventure camps, “real camping” instead of the luxury accommodation of the expensive up-market tented lodges.

- Accommodation is in small 2-man dome tents. It is “real camping” and all guests need to bring their own sleeping bag as well as a towel.

Chobe National Park, another highlight of this Botswana safari, encompasses 11,700 km2 of wilderness, bordered in the north by the beautiful Chobe River, and buffered on all sides by wildlife management areas and forest reserves, allowing for the free movement of game. A wildlife enthusiast’s dream, Chobe National Park is one of the top wilderness reserves in the world and is home to the largest single concentration of elephant. From Savute, move up to northern Chobe (4 – 5 hours overland game drive) where you will camp for two nights in the Serondela area of the National Park. This is the heart of elephant country and you may spend many hours watching the huge herds in and around the waters of the Chobe River on game drives or private boat cruise. Northern Chobe is renowned for its large variety of bird and animal life, beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets.

 DAY 10 VICTORIA FALLS

Take a short drive from Chobe National Park to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe for your one night stay at The Elephant Camp, after a tour of the Falls (entrance fee to the Falls is included in the safari fare). Enjoy a sunset cruise along the banks of the Zambezi River and view the spectacular scenery that is nature’s own sanctuary and home to the ‘laughing hippos’, ‘singing birds’ and the ‘snapping crocodiles’. (If the day is Thursday, stop on your way at Key Afer to visit the most colorful multicultural market in the Lower Omo Valley, which is attended, by the tribal groups of Ari, Benna, and Tsemai.)

Today, you will have an excursion to the Mago National Park and visit the people of Mursi who are typically known for the clay lip plates of the women. Then, drive back to Jinka and visit the Cultural Museum of the People of the Lower Omo Valley.

DAY 3 MPUMALANGA – PANORAMIC ROUTE

Early this morning, you will be met by your guide in the hotel lobby and transferred for your full day, magnificent Panorama tour in Mpumalanga, best known for its cultural heritage and dramatic landscapes. Later this afternoon, you will be transferred to the Sabi River Sun for the evening.

On your panoramic tour, you will depart eastward toward the famous Blyde River (Happy River) Canyon. You will pass through Middelburg as you continue to the small town of Belfast, famous for its sheep and trout farming. This afternoon, you will continue through the small village of Dullstroom and travel toward Lydenburg. After lunch you will make your way to Lydenburg for the Three Rondawels, South Africa’s 2nd most photographed natural phenomenon after Table Mountain. Depart for God’s Window, travelling through Eucalyptus and Pine plantations. On arrival to God’s Window, enjoy the view from the edge of the escarpment taking in Kruger National Park and the huge plantations of the so-called Lowveld.

You will have time to explore the factory through the viewing deck, where you can buy various products, should you wish. Today your adventure continues as you spend the afternoon in Zululand, later arriving to the Protea Hotel for your one night stay.

Just after Big Bend, enjoy a refreshment stop along the riverside before you cross the Swazi-Zululand boarder. As you enter northern Zululand, you will arrive at Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve for a game drive, which contains an immense diversity of fauna and flora and is particularly famous for its conservation of black and white rhino.

As you transfer to Durban, take in the breathtaking landscape as you pass traditional Zulu kraals, Eucalyptus plantations and sugar cane fields. Durban is the closest seaport to Johannesburg and is also an integral part of the city. It has a great little cultural spot right in the middle of the harbor – the BAT center. Short for the Bartle Arts Trust, the BAT Center is a hotbed of local visual art and musical creativity mixed in with some good restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. All overlooking the small boat harbor so you can sip cappuccino while watching.

DAY 9 PORT ELIZABETH

Transfer this morning to Durban Airport for your South African Airways flight 1336 to Port Elizabeth, departing at 12:30pm. On arrival in Port Elizabeth at 1:55pm, you will be met by your guide and transferred to the Garden Center Kings Beach for the night.

During your drive, you will drive westwards along the Garden Route, which follows the Indian Ocean coastline and is bordered inland by soaring mountain ranges and indigenous forests. You will have the opportunity for a refreshment stop at Storms River Bridge, with time to take in the view and peruse the curio shop. This afternoon, you will continue your drive through Tsitsikamma Forest, until you arrive at Blaauwkrans, where you can stop to watch fellow travellers bunji jumping. Make your way to Groot River Pass and onward to Knysna, arriving around 4:00pm.

Travel this morning to Stellenbosch and the d’Ouwe Werf Hotel Stellenbosch for the evening.

As you depart Oudtshoorn, you will pass through Little Karoo towards Cape Town via Ladismith and the Huisrivier Pass. Along the way, enjoy a community visit and farm school in the Barrydale area before continuing n to Montagu. Enjoy lunch in Montagu. This afternoon, you will depart to Stellenbosch via the Du Toits Kloof Pass. On arrival in Stellenbosch, you will have the rest of your day to explore the area.

DAY 2 ARUSHA

Welcome to Africa! Upon arrival in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, you will be met by our representative and transferred by road to the Arusha Coffee Lodge, where you will enjoy your one night stay.

About Arusha Coffee Lodge: This inviting lodge radiates the warmth and style of a colonial plantation home. Well-appointed accommodations surrounded by Tanzania’s largest coffee plantation make the lodge a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate before or after your safari adventures.
Accommodation Type & Location: Safari lodge in Arusha, Tanzania surrounded by the country’s largest coffee plantation.
Guest Accommodations: Thirty invitingly furnished cottages are decorated in a palate of earth colors reflecting the land with split-level living areas, en-suite baths and private patios. The main plantation house features an ‘a la carte’ restaurant, intimate bar, cozy lounge (all with open log fireplaces), two boutiques, an enclosed swimming pool and a popular garden terrace.
Activities: Optional activities (some at extra cost) include coffee plantation tours, visits to the Museum of Natural History, shopping at a local Masai market or for Tanzanite at the lodge’s Tanzanite gift shop.

DAYS 3, 4, 5 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

This morning, you will be met in the hotel lobby for your transfer to Tarangire National Park and Oliver’s Camp for your next three nights.

About Oliver’s Camp: The atmosphere of intimacy and a true bush experience prevail in this wonderful small camp in the wilderness of Tarangire. Olivers offers undisturbed open vehicle game drives, adventurous private fly camping and walking safaris that allow for a rare chance to stalk elephant on foot. Every evening, guests enjoy sundowners at the fireplace.
Accommodation Type & Location: Permanent Tented Camp located in the remote south of Tarangire National Park.
Guest Accommodations: Ten beautifully furnished guest tents scattered along the marsh edge with excellent views over the permanent water source. Tents are covered with traditional thatch and offer and outdoor shower and indoor toilet and wash facilities.
Activities: Off road driving on both morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles and walking safaris which are the specialty at the camp. Walking safaris can take an hour or a whole morning or afternoon, but combined with fly camping they can take several days, letting you discover the most remote parts of Tarangire. The fly camp is typically booked as part of a walking safari or simply as a completely private night away from the main camp (the fly camping needs to be booked and arranged prior to your arrival)
Wildlife: During the dry season the park is refuge for many migratory animals including elephants, wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, eland and buffalo. You can also find large concentration of big cats and the best bird diversity in East Africa.

About Tarangire National Park
Tarangire covers 1100 square miles of savannah grasslands, open acacia woodland and ancient Baobab trees in northern Tanzania. During the June to November dry season, huge numbers of animals are drawn to the Tarangire River making it one of the most spectacular game locations in East Africa.

DAYS 6 & 7 NGORONGORO CRATER

After your morning game viewing activity, you will transfer by road to Lake Manyara National Park, where you will enjoy an afternoon game drive before continuing on to Ngorongoro Plantation Lodge for your two night stay.

About Ngorongoro Plantation Lodge: The lodge rests on the soft, red-brown hills amidst the vastness and silence of East Africa. Everywhere you look, you can see and even feel the personal atmosphere of this owner-run lodge with furnishings that were selected with great attention to detail.
Accommodation Type & Location: Lodge located a stone’s throw from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Guest Accommodations: Sixteen rooms lie generously distributed throughout the flowering garden, some with verandas and direct access to the garden. Each room has its own style and private bathroom facilities.
Activities: Full day game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Optional activities available include: birdwatching, a coffee plantation visit, visit a working farm, and massage (for additional cost).
Wildlife: Some 25,000 animals live in the caldera which has a diameter of 19 kilometers. Lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, black rhino, hippo. Buffalo, eland, gemsbok.

About Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is a 100 square mile natural amphitheatre in northern Tanzania created 2 million years ago when a volcano imploded leaving a 12 mile wide crater surrounded by an unbroken 2,000-foot high rim. It is home to 30,000 wild animals and provides outstanding game viewing in every season in a spectacular natural setting.

DAYS 8, 9, 10, 11 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, enjoy a full day of game viewing as your make your way to Serengeti National Park and Dunia Camp for your next four nights.

About Dunia Camp: Dunia Camp is capable of offering excellent game viewing on a year round basis through access to some of the best wildlife locations the south central Serengeti has to offer. Although the structure of Dunia is that of a mobile camp, the attention to detail, spaciousness and luxurious quality imparts a feeling of permanence.
Accommodation Type & Location: Semi-permanent Tented Camp tucked away in a private location amongst the Meru Kopjes in central and southern Serengeti National Park
Guest Accommodations: Each of the eight spacious tents features a private en-suite bathroom and private veranda overlooking the kopjes.
Activities: Morning, afternoon of full day game drives in traditional safari vehicles. Optional hot air balloon ride (at additional cost).

Its vast grassland plains are the heart of the annual Great Migration where over a million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra and impala move throughout the year in search of fresh grazing.

DAYS 12, 13, 14 ZANZIBAR ISLAND

Enjoy a morning game drive before transferring to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Arusha. On arrival in Arusha, you will connect with your scheduled flight to Zanzibar. As you arrive in Zanzibar, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Matemwe Bungalows, where you will enjoy your final three nights in Africa!
