Masai Mara Game Reserve
The Masaai Mara is one of the iconic reserves in the whole of Africa. At times areas can get a bit overrun with tourist traffic, but its ‘big skies’, rolling savannahs, annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra, sheer density of other game and predators and the tall red-robed Maasai people all combine to preserve its an unforgettable magic.
Laikipia & Samburu
This area of semi-desert rangelands in northern Kenya includes famous reserves such as Samburu, Shaba and Buffalo Springs and the Lewa Downs Conservancy. Huge old cattle ranches have been converted back to wildlife and all the Big Five can be seen here (rhino just in Lewa) plus desert adapted species like oryx, Grevy’s zebra and gerenuk.
