    DAY 1 TRAVEL DAY – TO AFRICA

    Your safari begins today as you board your international flight to Africa!


    DAYS 2, 3, 4 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

    Welcome to Africa! On arrival in Lusaka, Zambia, you will be met by your guide as assisted to your light aircraft flight to Mfuwe. On arrival in Mfuwe, you will be met and transferred to Mfuwe Lodge where you will enjoy your next three nights.

    About Mfuwe Lodge: Set in the most prolific game area of the South Luangwa, this is the perfect place to enjoy excellent game viewing, start and finish your journey. Its thatched buildings are arranged around the banks of two lagoons where an endless stream of wildlife will keep you enthralled as you lounge on the open deck or take a dip in the swimming pool.

    Camp Type & Location: Safari lodge just a 5 minute drive to the gate of the South Luangwa National Park.

    Guest Accommodations: Eighteen thatched chalets, each with private verandah, en-suite bathroom facilities and walk-in showers.

    Activities: Morning and afternoon/night game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles, walking safaris are available on request, local village, school & textile company visits.

    Wildlife: This floodplain ecosystem supports a variety of wildlife, including puku, impala, zebra, eland, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, lion and hyena. Night game drives often provide sightings of leopard, mongoose, hyena, jackal, civet and genet. In November the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree.

    About the South Luangwa National Park:

    For wildlife and wildlife-lovers, it doesn’t get any better than the South Luangwa National Park. With its verdant floodplains rustling with huge herds game, mopane woodlands and indigenous hardwood forests filled with over 400 species of birds and a might river that attracts animal like a magnet, it’s a natural utopia and one of Africa’s truly great wildlife sanctuaries.

    DAYS 5, 6, 7 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

    Depart after breakfast into the South Luangwa for a morning game drive. Arrive by midday at your next camp, Chindeni Bushcamp for the next three nights.

    About Chindeni Bushcamp: Located on the edge of a lagoon where hippo chortle and elephants wallow – undoubtedly one of the most beautiful tented camps in the South Luangwa. There is something about sleeping under canvas that ignites a sense of adventure in everyone.

    Camp Type & Location: Permanent Tented Camp overlooking an ox-bow lagoon and the Chindeni Hills in South Luangwa National Park.

    Guest Accommodations: Four opulent tents with stripped wooden floors, four-poster beds, cozy sitting rooms, en-suite bathrooms and private verandahs.

    Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles, night game drives, walking safaris.

    DAYS 8, 9, 10 LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

    After your morning game viewing activity, you will transfer to Mfuwe Airport for your flight to the Lower Zambezi and Chongwe River Camp for your final three nights.

    About Chongwe River Camp: Set in one of Africa’s last great wilderness areas, renowned for breathtaking scenery and incredible wildlife. Set beneath a canopy of winterthorns at the confluence of the Zambezi and Chongwe rivers, Chongwe combines the best of everything, from first-class service and luxurious accommodation to exceptional game viewing and enlightening cultural experiences.

    Camp Type & Location: Permanent Tented Camp situated in the Lower Zambezi Valley along the Zambezi River.

    Guest Accommodations: Nine luxury tents each under thatch, with a large outdoor bathroom with hot and cold running water, shower and flush toilet. The tents also have their own private verandah overlooking the river. Then there are the two suites and Chongwe House which are great for small groups traveling together or families.

    Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles, nature walks, canoeing, boating and fishing. Community visits can be arranged.

    Wildlife: The Lower Zambezi National Park is home to all of the major species in the valley with excellent sightings of elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard a regular occurrence. Viewing elephant from the water is a particular highlight. Birdlife in the area is also outstanding, making this a real hotspot for ornithologists.

    About the Lower Zambezi National Park:

    Just over 4000 square kilometers, this park is a very significant part of a much larger trans-frontier wilderness area in the Zambezi Valley and lies across the river from the historically better known Mana Pools across in Zimbabwe. The most outstanding aspect to this safari area is the range of activities on offer.

    Overnight: Chongwe River Camp (B, L, D & Local Beverages)


    DAY 11 YOUR JOURNEY ENDS

    Your Zambia safari come to an end as you transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Lusaka. On arrival in Lusaka, you will connect with your departure flight.
    Extensions to Victoria Falls are available on request.

    Booking Conditions

    Rothschild Safaris: Terms and Conditions applicable on all tours. Cancellation insurance is highly recommended.

    Deposit Requirements: 20% per person deposit is required to confirm the booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure.

    Currency Exchange Rates (for South Africa services only): Due to the volatility of currency markets, we can only offer the most competitive pricing on South African tours by tying these costs directly to the value of the South African Rand. This is calculated based on an in-house exchange rate of 7 Rand to 1 USD. Approximately 90 days prior to your safari, we finalize the cost of the South Africa portion of your trip and make any necessary changes to the price on the final invoice. Generally, price changes are not necessary.
