    DAY 1 TRAVEL DAY – TO AFRICA

    Your safari begins today as you board your international flight to Africa.


    DAYS 2, 3, 4 CAPE TOWN

    Welcome to Africa! Today you arrive in Cape Town, South Africa where you will be met by our representative and transferred to the Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel for your three night stay.

    About the Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel: The Cape Cadogan is a stately double-storied Georgian and Victorian building that dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. It was originally a farm house which was “Victorianized” in 1912 and declared a national Monument in 1985. Its public areas comprise a comfortable lounge with an open fireplace, a garden and pool area, and a library where you can relax and read.

    Camp Type & Location: Boutique Hotel located in the heart of Cape Town and just a short drive from Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront.

    Guest Accommodations: Twelve luxuriously appointed en-suite bedrooms that are decorated with an eclectic mix of contemporary and antique furniture using dramatic fabrics.

    Optional Activities: Cape Peninsula/Cape of Good Hope tour, excursion into the Cape Wineland, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain, cruise around the Cape, cultural Tour including Robben Island and the history of South Africa or a full day Hermanus (whale watching) excursion (Costs and descriptions of tours available upon request).

    Consistently named the most beautiful city in Africa, Cape Town combines a mild Mediterranean climate, gorgeous ocean front setting, spectacular mountain backdrop, dramatic white sand beaches, world class dinning and outstanding shopping and nightlife to make it a must see attraction on any South Africa itinerary.

    DAYS 5 & 6 SABI SAND PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

    After breakfast, you will be met in the hotel lobby for your transfer back to Cape Town International Airport where you will connect with your flight to Mpumalanga. On arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met by your guide and transferred to Londolozi Tree Camp, where you will enjoy you next two nights.

    About Londolozi Tree Camp: Tree Camp embodies the very essence of Londolozi’s continuous striving to transcend and redefine the journey to the wilderness. This is a place of connoisseurship, leopards, orchids, lanterns and lead wood trees. Here you can spend lazy afternoons on your deck, champagne in hand as you survey the ancient landscape, elephants feeding below in the river.

    Tree Camp does not accommodate children under the age of 16 years, unless guests book the camp exclusively.

    Camp Type & Location: Safari lodge situated in the heart of the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, in the private Londolozi Game Reserve concession with over 16 000 hectares of traversing wilderness, no two game drives are ever the same.

    Guest Accommodations: Six luxury suites designed with elegance and simplicity, with en-suite bathroom facilities. Private swimming pool, contemplation decks (salas), Ralph Lauren wall paper and chocolate plaited leather beds, simply amazing!

    Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, walking expeditions, animal tracking adventures, Shangaan cultural village & learning center, day trips to the surrounding communities to learn about their culture. Optional yoga, massage, bush running, fitness room, clay pigeon shooting, John Varty cinematography Center.

    A unique feature offered at Londolozi is their “sleep-out at the lookout”- the lookout is a secure, raised timber deck which is transformed into a luxurious and romantic ‘bed in the bush’ for exclusive sleep outs.

    Wildlife: Over two hundred different species live in abundance, whilst the ever changing bird life provides even the most experienced ornithologist with rare finds. Such is the environment that the wildlife, save for the migratory birds, remain in their territories all year round. The wildlife viewing is second to none and includes the big five. The Sabi Sand Reserve enjoys good quality viewing of leopard, as well as elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and a vast variety of antelope and other species.

    What makes Londolozi even more remarkable is its relationship which has developed over three decades between wild free ranging leopards and ranger & trackers. There is no disputing that viewing the leopards of Londolozi is one of life’s truly treasured experiences.

    About the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve

    It is situated on the Sand River in the very heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. This reserve in turn forms part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a vast and growing area, currently covering 6 million acres and incorporating the famous Kruger National Park. This rich, wild wonderland assures exceptional game drives and a true wilderness experience.

    DAYS 7 & 8 VICTORIA FALLS

    After breakfast and your morning game viewing activity, you will be transferred to the airstrip for you light aircraft flight to Johannesburg. On arrival in Johannesburg, you will connect with your scheduled flight to Livingstone, Zambia. Upon arrival in Livingstone, you will be met by your guide and transferred to Tongabezi Lodge, where you will enjoy their Honeymoon House for your two night stay.

    About Tongabezi Lodge: Privately owned and run. Each house and cottage has its own valet who takes care of guests throughout their stay and act as a private concierge. There is no set pattern to days at Tongabezi.

    Camp Type & Location: Luxury Safari Lodge near Victoria Falls on the banks of the Zambezi River.

    Guest Accommodations: There are 2 types of accommodations. 5 Houses: located on the edge of the Zambezi River, the houses are open fronted looking out onto the Zambezi, at night a mosquito net is hung around your bed, this is the ultimate way to sleep in Africa. All houses have private en-suite bathrooms. For those who are nervous to sleep in the open fronted rooms there are the cottages – 5 River Cottages, these are close-fronted with gauze netting in the windows, however you still get to hear the sounds of the bush at night. Cottages have private en-suite bathrooms.

    Activities: Included in the cost: Tour of the falls, canoeing on the Zambezi, Island lunch, Sanpan floating candlelit dinner, visit to Mukuni Park, sunrise & sunset boating, Simonga village visit, fishing, game drive into Mosi-oa-Tunya and market visits. Activities available at the falls but not included in your cost are: Livingstone Island visit, white water rafting, helicopter and microlight flights over Victoria Falls, horse rides, fly fishing, day visit to Chobe National Park, all adrenalin activities: gorge swing, bungie, jet boating, kayaking.

    About Victoria Falls

    Victoria Falls constitutes one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. The Local people call it “Mosi-oa-Tunya” — the smoke that thunders and the Falls are remarkable. Victoria Falls is 1,708 meters wide, making it the largest curtain of water in the world. It drops between 90m and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge and an average of 550,000 cubic meters of water plummet over the edge every minute.

    Overnight: Tongabezi Lodge – Honeymoon House (B, L, D, Local Beverages & Laundry)


    DAYS 9, 10, 11 LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

    Optional morning activity, you will then transfer to the Livingstone Airport where you will connect with your light aircraft flight to the Lower Zambezi and Chiawa for your three night stay.

    About Chiawa Camp: This is a wonderful family owned and operated camp. Enjoy the fabulous cuisine and excellent views from your tents. The lounge/bar provides one of the best views of the Zambezi and its resident wildlife. Evenings are spent relaxing around the open camp fire with a cocktail in hand to reminisce of the day’s adventures before retiring to your tent.

    Camp Type & Location: Permanent Tented Camp situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, under a grove of evergreen Mahogony trees, and holds the prime position in the heart of Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park.

    Guest Accommodations: Nine luxury tents each with timber floors, private verandahs en-suite bathrooms and outdoor shower. These tents have set a new standard in bush-luxury, yet still retain the rustic, unpretentious feel that Chiawa is so well loved for.

    Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles, nature walks, canoeing, boating and angling in the company of Africa’s finest guides.

    Wildlife: The Lower Zambezi National Park is home to all of the major species in the valley with excellent sightings of elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard on a regular occurrence. Birdlife in the area is also outstanding, making this a real hotspot for ornithologists.

    About the Lower Zambezi National Park

    At just over 4000 square kilometers, the Lower Zambezi National Park stretches in a narrow swathe from the Chongwe River in the west to the Luangwa River in the east. Rich in biodiversity, there are a number of biomes, or eco-systems in the park, ranging from montane thickets on the slopes of the escarpment to miombo woodlands, grassy floodplains and riparian forests.

    DAY 12 YOUR JOURNEY ENDS

    Your South Africa and Zambia safari comes to an end as you transfer back to the Royal Airstrip for your flight back to Lusaka, where you will connect with your departure flight.

    Booking Conditions

    Rothschild Safaris: Terms and Conditions applicable on all tours. Cancellation insurance is highly recommended.

    Deposit Requirements: 20% per person deposit is required to confirm the booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure.

    Currency Exchange Rates (for South Africa services only): Due to the volatility of currency markets, we can only offer the most competitive pricing on South African tours by tying these costs directly to the value of the South African Rand. This is calculated based on an in-house exchange rate of 7 Rand to 1 USD. Approximately 90 days prior to your safari, we finalize the cost of the South Africa portion of your trip and make any necessary changes to the price on the final invoice. Generally, price changes are not necessary.
