    DAY 1 TRAVEL DAY – TO AFRICA

    Your safari begins today as you board your international flight to Africa!


    DAYS 2, 3, 4 CAPE TOWN

    Welcome to Africa! Today you arrive in Cape Town, South Africa where you will be met by our representative and transferred to the African Elite Waterfront Apartments for your three night stay.

    About African Elite Waterfront Apartments: African Elite luxury serviced accommodation in exclusive apartments for short or long-term rentals. Apartments are located within walking distance of restaurants, shops and the V&A Waterfront.

    Accommodation Type & Location: Apartments located in the heart of Cape Town, at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, just a 10 minute drive from Table Mountain.

    Guest Accommodations: Each apartment is innovative and stylish and promotes a lifestyle focused on local living and comes equipped with a kitchen, dishwasher, and washing machine and dryer.

    Optional Activities available on request: Cape Peninsula/Cape of Good Hope tour, Cape Winelands, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Table Mountain, Cultural tour including Robben Island, Hermanus (whale watching), Jewish tour, Half or full day city tour. All tours are at additional cost.

    DAY 5 & 6 TIMBAVATI GAME RESERVE

    This morning, you will be met in the hotel lobby for your transfer back to Cape Town International Airport, where you will connect with your flight to Mpumalanga. On arrival in Mpumalanga, you will be met by your guide and assisted to your light aircraft flight to Honeyguide Mantobeni Tented Camp, where you will enjoy your next three nights.

    About Honeyguide Mantobeni Tented Camp: Honeyguide Mantobeni Tented Camp is designed to reflect Hemingways’ Africa. The camp offers breath-taking wildlife experiences at the same time as pampering the senses with meticulous service and superb cuisine. Wildlife visiting the nearby watering hole can be seen from the swimming pool deck adjoining the reception areas.

    Camp Type & Location: Permanent Tented Camp located between the Timbavati and Sabi Sand Reserve, in the Manyeleti Game Reserve, boarding Kruger National Park

    Guest Accommodations: Twelve Nehru-styled tents are nestled in a Tamboti grove overlooking dry river bed, each with en-suite bathroom facilities, double shower and flush toilet. Children over the age of 12 years are accepted at this camp.

    Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 vehicles and nature walks

    Wildlife: The reserve supports a wide variety of game including elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, waterbuck, kudu and many other species of antelope. Predators include lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena and many smaller species. The Timbavati is home to the rare White Lion. Their coats, almost snow white, are caused by a recessive gene and only reappeared naturally in the Timbavati in 2006 after an absence of many years.

    About the Timbavati Game Reserve and the Manyeleti Game Reserve

    The fenceless borders the Manyeleti Game Reserve shares with the Kruger National Park, Sabi Sands Game Reserve and the Timbavati Game Reserve, forms an integral ecological unit where all the animals roam free. The Mnisi people lived and occupied this land for many generations and in the new South Africa, they instituted a land claim for the return of their ancestral grounds. The Manyeleti Game Reserve is now managed by the Mnisi tribe, who are committed to retaining the integrity of the game reserve and unlocking the tourism potential to the benefit of the Mnisi people and surrounding communities.

    Overnight: Honeyguide Mantobeni Tented Camp (B, L, D & Beverages)


    DAYS 7, 8, 9 SABI SAND PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

    After breakfast and your morning game drive, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve and Notten’s Bush Camp for your three night stay.

    About Notten’s Bush Camp: Notten’s Bush Camp is an exclusive and private safari lodge personally run by the Notten family. It is a destination that will truly touch your heart and soul. With splendid panoramic views, this private game lodge is the perfect place for peace and relaxation while watching animals meander past. In between activities you may relax at the pool or enjoy a massage (at additional cost). After dinner enjoy chatting around a blazing open fire.

    Camp Type & Location: Bush Camp located in the heart of the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve.

    Guest Accommodations: Eight elegantly decorated, private suites, each with en-suite bathrooms and flush toilet, and private game viewing deck. After dusk, the suites transform into a magical atmosphere, created by the purposeful absence of electric lighting; the ambient candlelight and lanterns capture an enchanting spirit of romance.

    Activities: Morning and afternoon/night game drives in open 4×4 Land Rover and daily bush walks.

    Wildlife: Over two hundred different species live in abundance, whilst the ever changing bird life provides even the most experienced ornithologist with rare finds. Such is the environment that the wildlife, save for the migratory birds, remain in their territories all year round. The wildlife viewing is second to none and includes the big five. The Sabi Sand Reserve enjoys good quality viewing of leopard, as well as elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and a vast variety of antelope and other species.

    About the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve

    The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserveforms part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a vast and growing area, currently covering 6 million acres and incorporating the famous Kruger National Park. This rich, wild wonderland assures exceptional game drives and a true wilderness experience.

    Overnight: Notten’s Bush Camp (B, L, D, Local Beverages & Laundry)


    DAYS 10 & 11 VICTORIA FALLS

    After breakfast and your morning game drive, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Mpumalanga. On arrival in Mpumalanga, you will connect with your schedule light to Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls Airport. Upon arrival to Victoria Falls, you will be met by your guide and assisted to Ilala Lodge your next two nights.

    About Ilala Lodge: Ilala Lodge offers distinguished yet affordable accommodation in warm elegant surroundings. The décor evokes an era of early adventure and the quest for discovery in Africa. The hotel is ideally situated being the closest to the mighty Victoria Falls as well as the town centre. The National Park borders the front of the property and wild animals often graze on the hotel lawns, with the spray of the falls in the background.

    Camp Type & Location: Boutique Hotel situated on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls, it is the closest hotel to the Victoria Falls.

    Guest Accommodations: 32 spacious, standard rooms and 2 deluxe suites all with en-suite bathroom facilities and separate shower. Patio doors lead either onto open lawn or a balcony where you are afforded a view of the spray of the falls from the upper level rooms.

    Activities: Tour of Victoria Falls, sunset cruise on Zambezi River, game drives, jet boat trips above and below the falls, horse riding, village tours, bungi jumping, gorge swinging, helicopter and fixed wing scenic flights over the falls, microlight flights, fishing, bush dinner and canoe safaris (unless otherwise stated all tours at additional cost, available on request).

    About Victoria Falls

    Victoria Falls constitutes one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. The Local people call it “Mosi-oa-Tunya” — the smoke that thunders and the Falls are remarkable. Victoria Falls is 1,708 meters wide, making it the largest curtain of water in the world. It drops between 90m and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge and an average of 550,000 cubic meters of water plummet over the edge every minute.

    DAY 12 YOUR JOURNEY ENDS

    After a morning at leisure you will be transferred back to the Victoria Falls Airport for your flight to Johannesburg, where you will connect with your flight to the US.

    Booking Conditions

    Rothschild Safaris: Terms and Conditions applicable on all tours. Cancellation insurance is highly recommended.

    Deposit Requirements: 20% per person deposit is required to confirm the booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure.

    Currency Exchange Rates (for South Africa services only): Due to the volatility of currency markets, we can only offer the most competitive pricing on South African tours by tying these costs directly to the value of the South African Rand. This is calculated based on an in-house exchange rate of 7 Rand to 1 USD. Approximately 90 days prior to your safari, we finalize the cost of the South Africa portion of your trip and make any necessary changes to the price on the final invoice. Generally, price changes are not necessary.
