It drops between 90m and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge and an average of 550,000 cubic meters of water plummet over the edge every minute.

Chobe is a 4700 square mile reserve fronting the Chobe River in northern part of the country on this Botswana safari. It is the center of a larger network of protected areas stretching into Namibia and Zimbabwe and includes the famous game areas of Serondela and Savuti. It is renowned for its massive concentrations of elephants and buffalo, and the predator who hunt them, during the June to October dry season.

About Impalila Island Lodge: The peaceful and secluded Botswana safari lodge is set on an island at the confluence of the mighty Zambezi and Chobe Rivers near the Mambova Rapids at the meeting place of four countries – Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana. The lodge features an infinity swimming pool, bar, curio shop, library, lounge and dining area – all built under the canopy of a 2000 year old baobab tree.

This morning will be transferred back to Kasane for your light plane flight to Gunns Camp in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.
About Gunns Camp: Overlooking the legendary Chiefs Island and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Gunn’s Camp is one of the last few remaining luxury, vintage safari camps. Set under leafy palms and African Ebony to blend naturally with its unique surroundings, Gunns achieves a fine balance of comfort without isolating guests from the sights and sounds of the wilderness. There is an elevated bar, lounge and dining room, campfire boma and swimming pool.
Accommodation Type & Location: Permanent Tented Camp overlooking Chiefs Island in the Okavango Delta, bordering the Moremi Reserve.

Set on raised platforms overlooking the delta plains Gunn’s Camp is ideal for honeymooners or guests looking for a more intimate and personalized safari experience. Activities: Activities on this Botswana safari include mokoro excursions (canoe), bush walks, motor boat sunset cruises. No vehicles are at this camp. The area tends to be in flood July-October. Outside this period boating can be more limited and the emphasis leans towards walking.
Optional unique feature offered includes island camping: pack your mokoros with basic camping equipment and food so that you can set out with your own personal guide to find an island where you will set up camp. The evening will be spent preparing dinner around the campfire in the company of Africa’s nocturnal wildlife (island camping needs to be booked prior to your arrival at the camp).
Wildlife: The Okavango Delta is home to a large number of species, including semi-aquatic species, such as the elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga. Families of hippo hide in the deeper channels and lagoons, while the unique Delta environment supports many minute but beautiful species, including multicolored frogs and incandescent dragonflies. The area is much less about intense game-viewing, but more about a gentler Okavango experience.

The Okavango is a vast river that never meets the sea. Instead, its clear waters spread across the Kalahari Desert, forming Africa’s largest wetland. The Delta is an oasis amidst the vast plains and pans of the desert that covers most of Southern Africa. Its waterways are a collection of meandering channels, creating a haven for Africa’s most notable wildlife. The Okavango Delta is the highlight of any Botswana safari.
